Data sources and acceptable use
Where prices come from
Offers come from publicly accessible web pages: seller product pages, official pricing pages, manufacturer and distributor pages, and established marketplaces. Candidate pages are discovered through a web search provider. Search-result snippets are never used as price evidence; a price is reported only if it appears on the retrieved page itself, in its visible text or its schema.org structured data.
How pages are retrieved
- Only public HTTPS pages. Private networks, logins, paywalls and CAPTCHAs are never accessed or bypassed.
- Requests identify themselves honestly as
MarketPriceFinder/1.0 (+https://marketpricefinder.online/docs). - robots.txt is checked for every site before a page is read. Pages disallowed for this crawler (or for all crawlers) are not read directly or through the extraction provider, and are listed as
robots_disallowedin results. - Only a handful of pages per request, one per site, fetched once. No crawling, no repeated polling, no background monitoring.
- Pages that need JavaScript rendering may be read through the search provider’s extraction service; results mark these as
extraction_service.
Exchange rates
Currency conversions use the European Central Bank’s published euro foreign exchange reference rates. Each conversion lists the rate, its date and the source. Reference rates are informational and differ from rates applied by sellers or payment providers.
Evidence and attribution
Short verbatim excerpts and links are included solely as evidence for the reported offer. Content and trademarks belong to their owners. Site owners who want a page excluded can disallow MarketPriceFinder in robots.txt; this takes effect on the next request.
Acceptable use
The Service is for legitimate price research. Do not use it to collect personal data, to target a site with repeated requests, or to research unlawful goods or services.
